I modified this pattern quite a bit. First I separated the back piece to add an upper back design like "jean skirts" would have, omitting the darts as well.
I added to the width of the pack and decreased the width in the front, so the skirt's side seam would hit in the appropriate place and allow for her bum. I shortened it drastically and redrafted the sides to omit the A-line, thus having a denim mini skirt.
I also added buttonhole elastic, and finished the waistband lining with bias tape to give a nice tailored look on the inside.
